Mekabolt (2015)
School Project | Gameloft Paris | Unity | Android
Project description Mekabolt is a two-player physics-based 3D robot-building and combat game taking place in a quirky universe. The goal of the game is to push the other player’s robot outside of the arena. We were tasked by Gameloft Paris to design a tablet game for kids aged 8-12 that didn't make use of virtual sticks or d-pads. Before entering battle, each player can choose his robot and customize it with different parts, each one granting different abilities. The team We were a team of 14 students comprised of 4 game designers, 8 artists and 2 programmers. My role I was in charge of managing the team. My tasks included attributing tasks, managing the schedule and managing the pipelines. I also contacted a 3D printer and managed to get a 3D-impression of one of our robots for the final presentation, which I also led. As a designer, I mainly supervised the Game Design pole and gave them the documents and ressources they needed for completing their tasks. I also trained the design team in multiple aspects like behaviour document writing and design methodologies. What I learned
What I would have improved The team is greatly satisfied with the project. We managed to hit all our milestones and we were awarded the highest grade by Gameloft Paris, which were also very happy with the result. If I had to do something different, Play You can download the game's APK here. |
