Zombie Zone - World Domination (2015)

Project description
Zombie Zone is a post-apocalyptic iOS geolocation-based strategy game (coming to Android in 2016) where players capture and control territories in the real world by fighting against Zombies that have taken over the world. Players can also join factions in order to fight each other for dominance. 
The game had a very succesful launch, becoming both one of the top 5 Strategy games in 53 countries and one of the top 20 Highest Grossing Action games on the App Store on its first week alone​

The team
The fifteen people development team was comprised by two game designers (myself and the game's creative director), two artists, five frontend developers, three backend developers, one QA tester, one producer and one manager.

My role
My main mission during my four-month internship was designing the totality of the game's multiplayer component. Some of the features I designed included the Factions, Chat, rewards and PVP systems. For each feature, I wrote its specifications, adesigned its UI, added their specific values to the balancing document and made its respective flowchart.
The system I came up with was deeply interconnected with the single-player aspect of the game. This resulted in a system where the player's good performance on either mode greatly benefited the other. As a result, the game's metaloop pushed players to do their best on the single-player portion of the game in order to benefit their faction.
Other of my tasks included designing the game's tutorial, its leaderboards/achievements (for Google Play and the App Store), writing the game's help section and doing basic QA and balancing tasks.

What I would have improved
The internship went by greatly and my team was greatly pleased with my work. The only thing they told me I could improve was my participation in meetings. Indeed, I didn't express myself too often. I took their criticism to heart and have made the commitment of improving myself on this aspect.
